Abstract
Jamil Khoury’s Precious Stones is a play that deals with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a conflict that has started since the Israeli occupation of Palestine. All around the world, people are divided between supporters of either Israel or Palestine. Shedding light on the roots of this conflict and on its consequences is of great importance, for it helps the ones who are misguided by the Israeli myth to be aware of the truth which is obvious through the analysis taking place in this paper. In the play, the confrontation taking place between the Jewish-American Andrea and the Palestinian-American Leila shows how Zionists and their supporters are responsible for the suffering of the Palestinian citizens. Consequently, raising awareness on this issue would help to break the silence of the universe in order to stand with the right against falsehood. To prove its aims, the paper follows both the historical and the political approaches. It shows that Israel was created based on the Zionists’ myth; it also proposes that Palestine, the land of the three monotheistic religions and ancient civilizations as well, should be freed from Israeli occupation. Only then, Palestine will be the land of unity and peace that welcomes pilgrims and tourists from all around the world.
Keywords: Zionism; myth; Palestine; occupation; Intifada- تتناول هذه الدراسة حقيقة القضية الفلسطينية مقابل أسطورة الكيان الإسرائيلي حيث تبرز الصراع الفلسطيني- الإسرائيلي من خلال مسرحية "أحجار ثمينة " للكاتب جميل خوري. تسلط هذه الدراسة الضوء على ما يحصل داخل الأراضي المحتلة من ظلم يمارسه الاحتلال ضد الشعب الفلسطيني، وعلى الانتفاضة التي قامت بوجه هذا الاحتلال. من الضروري أن يتطلع العالم على أسباب هذا الصراع ونتائجه لكي تتضح الصورة حول حقيقة هذا الصراع. تعتمد هذه الدراسة على المنهج التاريخي والمنهج السياسي لتثبت بأن فلسطين هي موطن للفلسطينيين، وأن الحركة الصهيونية مهما حاولت تضليل الحقيقة لن تستطيع تغييرها. من هنا تكمن أهمية تحرير أرض فلسطين من الاحتلال الإسرائيلي لكي تعود فلسطين كما كانت عليه قبل الاحتلال، تنعم بالسلام وتستقبل من يرغب بزيارة أراضيها المقدسة من جميع أرجاء العالم.
