ملخص
كلف البطريرك الياس الحويك المطران يوسف دريان العشقوتي إنشاء مطرانية للموارنة في مصر، وجعله أسقفًا عليها. اتّبع المطران دريان طريقة الاكتتاب من أجل جمع الأموال، فتمّ شراء الأرض، وأنجز المبنى، وسكنه المطران ومساعدوه. ويعود الفضل في ذلك إلى اللبنانيين الموجودين في مصر، الذين تبرّعوا بالأموال اللازمة لإنجاز المشروع. وهكذا نشأت أبرشية في مصر أسهمت في تأمين متطلبات الموارنة روحيًّا واجتماعيًّا، وهذا ليس بجديد على الكنيسة المارونيّة التي رافقت أبناءها أينما حلّوا، وما زالت حتى يومنا هذا على النهج ذاته.

The establishment of the bishopric of Egypt for the Maronites in 1905 Patriarch Elias Howayek commissioned Bishop Youssef Daryan al-Achkouti to establish a bishopric for the Maronites in Egypt, and appointed him bishop of it. Bishop Daryan followed the subscription method in order to raise money, so the land was purchased, the building was completed, and the bishop and his assistants settled in it. The credit goes to the Lebanese in Egypt who donated the necessary funds to complete the project. This is how the Archdiocese of Egypt was established, and contributed to securing the requirements of the Maronites, both spiritually and socially. This is not new to the Maronite Church, which accompanied its followers wherever they went, and continues to this day on the same path.
