Facing the highly commodified 21st century education, the Humanities has been stereotyped as economically ineffective domain of knowledge that is not worth investing in. This attitude has led to decrease in funding, hiring and enrollment. Although there have been several attempts at defending the “instrumental” role of the Humanities, this paper highlights the real strength of the Humanities: its interdisciplinary nature, which should be given much more attention in research that properly represent its value, economically and intellectually. Keywords: Humanities, Interdisciplinarity, instrumental, economics
